The 2026 Australian Water Polo League (AWL) Finals delivered a historic weekend, with two Sydney clubs reaching the top of the podium through performance, depth, and belief.

Congratulations to the UNSW Wests Magpies Men and the Cronulla Sharks Women, crowned 2026 AWL Champions!

The UNSW Wests Magpies claimed a record ninth AWL men’s title, defeating Cronulla 17–13 in a high‑quality final. The win secured back‑to‑back championships and further cemented UNSW’s position as the most successful men’s program in Australian Water Polo League history.

For the first time since 2012, the Cronulla Sharks Women are AWL champions, claiming a 15–12 victory over the Sydney Uni Lions in the women’s gold medal match.

A dominant opening quarter laid the foundation for the win, with Cronulla maintaining control to secure a landmark result for the club. The victory marked a significant milestone, with the women’s title completing a historic finals campaign for Cronulla.

A big congratulations also to our very own, Dani Jackovich, who was awarded both the Debbie Watson Medal (Season MVP), as well as the Pat Jones Medal (Finals MVP). A truly impressive achievement!
